Domperidone is used for the relief of symptoms of excessive fullness, nausea, stomach bloating and belching occasionally accompanied by stomach discomfort and heartburn after meals. Domperidone belongs to a group of medications known as dopamine antagonists. Domperidone works by stimulating gut movement. Domperidone-containing medicines have been authorised nationally in individual Member States of the EU for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of various causes but also for the management of symptoms such as bloating, discomfort and heartburn. I'm going through a lot of re-imerging reflux problems at the moment and the doctor gave me some Domperidone. I feel it helps and don't feel any side effects if you're having trouble eating / feeling bloating quickly after meals. In my case I still need the PPI's and Gaviscon to fight the problem when I'm having a bad spell like I am now. UPDATE: I've been taking domperidone for two months now and it has made an enormous improvement in my daily life BUT over the last few days all of the symptoms I was experiencing before have returned and I'm really bummed about it. Domperidone has potentially serious side effects and should no longer be used as a remedy for bloating. Like many presciption and over the counter medications, domperidone carries the risk of side effects.
